Biography
Mouad El Assadi is a State Engineer (EHTP) and laureate of the Agrégation de Mathématiques. He combines data science with mathematics teaching and program management, designing and delivering advanced mathematics for elite preparatory classes in Rabat. His work spans strategic planning, evidence-based policy, and research on governance in hybrid systems of authority. He is fluent in Arabic, French, and English (TOEIC 950).

Teaching Philosophy
My approach owes a great deal to Carl Wieman, the Nobel-laureate physicist who turned the tools of science on science teaching itself. His central claim is simple and demanding: learning is not something a lecture delivers, it is something the student builds — and our job is to design the practice that builds it.
Deliberate practice, not delivery
Expertise is built by working repeatedly on problems just beyond your current reach, with feedback from a mentor. In class, students should be doing the thinking — puzzling through problems like practising mathematicians — rather than watching me do it.
Respect the limits of working memory
Short-term memory holds very little at once. Lasting understanding comes from tackling steadily harder problems over time, not from covering more material faster.
Measure what students actually learn
Wieman's course design turns on three questions: what should students learn, what are they actually learning, and which practices would improve that? Teaching improves when we test our methods as carefully as we test our theorems.
Comfort is not learning
Wieman's research found students often feel they learn less in active classes even while measurably learning more. Effort feels harder than listening — which is precisely why it works, and why I explain this to my students.
Make teaching itself measurable
In the Teaching Practices Inventory, Wieman and Gilbert turn teaching into something a course can be audited on — learning goals, in-class activities, assignments, feedback and testing — so an instructor can see concretely which research-based practices they use and what to improve next. I use it as a checklist on my own courses.
